This season we offer a special overnight stay where you and your partner get to enjoy each others company in the wild nature of the Whale Island (Kvaløya). You will be picked up in Tromsø city and driven to our kennel in Straumsbukta (45-minute drive). Here you will get warm clothes to wear and then you will be transported to our Arctic Gamme in a dogsled driven by one of our professional mushers. The Gamme is set up a couple of kilometers from our husky kennel and away from civilization, meaning there will be no one else around except for our worker. When you arrive at the location of the stay you have all night to enjoy your surroundings. If we are lucky the aurora borealis will make an appearance. When the sky is clear you will have perfect conditions to see it, because the gamme is set up at a location with no light pollution from the city lights. We might also see some wild animals like moose, reindeer, hares, foxes, snow grouse and eagles.
After a little while the musher will serve you dinner, that you can enjoy either in the gamme or around the fire outside. The dinner is mostly made of local ingredients, and therefore it will vary with the season. If you have any special requests or allergies let ut know.
In the night you will sleep in our arctic winter sleepingbags on top of reindeer pelts. Reindeer pelts is one of the warmest hides to lie on, because they have natural heat insulation. The gamme is heated by a centered woodstove, that warms up the place in minutes.
Breakfast will be served at 09:30 AM, after that we will pack the stuff we brought and dogsled back to our kennel. At the kennel you will get the chance to change clothes before our driver takes you back to Tromsø centre.
On this trip the stay in our Arctic Gamme, transportation, dogsled ride, sleepingbag, warm winter gear, dinner and breakfast is included. It is recommended to bring wool underwear (base layer, long sleeved), jumper (wool or fleece), wool socks, gloves, warm hat, desired snacks and water bottle.
Note: Our musher will always be near by, so you will not be left by yourself in wild nature. He will set up his tent 20-50 meters from the Gamme so you can have your privacy, but the worker will be available to help through the entire stay.
It is not recommended to book our activity if you suffer from back pain, epilepsy, heart problems or if you are in the late stages of pregnancy.
