The Team behind Kvaløya Husky

Tommy
Founder & CEO
Tommy is the Alfa of the pack, a true local who lived on Kvaløya all his life. With 26 years of experience in dog sledding and amazing carpentry skills, he has built up Kvaløya Husky from scratch, with nothing else but his own hands and expertise. Tommy has participated in many races around the country, including the Finnmarksløpet (the world’s northernmost and Europe’s longest sled dog race) which he completed 5 times.
Despite his true Viking appearance, Tommy is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He greets everyone with a big smile and an open heart.
Jean - Baptiste (JB)
Guide & Driver
JB is a French-Canadian adventurer with a deep love for Norway’s wild landscapes - from the mountains of Kvaløya to the remote Arctic of Svalbard. Whether skiing or hiking, he’s always exploring. He is also currently training to become a pilot.
Now in his third season at Kvaløya Husky, JB brings over five years of experience working with sled dogs; being a handler at dog sledding races and participating at some small races himself. If you’re curious about what real life with huskies looks like behind the scenes, he’s the one to ask.

Byron
Guide & Driver
For almost eight years, Byron has been hooked on the thrill of dogsledding. Originally from the south of Belgium, he finds his happiest moments on the sled with his dogs and the surrounding wilderness—and he loves sharing that feeling with visiting guests. When it’s not winter, he’s off climbing steep mountain trails, always pushing for the highest peaks.
Amber
Guide & Host
Amber traded her busy life in the Netherlands for a quieter, nature-centered lifestyle nearly four years ago.
As a nature guide, she loves welcoming guests from all over the world here at Kvaløya Husky and sharing what it’s like to live so closely with our incredible huskies.

Ursule Urte
Guide & Visuals
Ursule Urte, originally from Lithuania, spent over 14 years in England before following a strong inner calling to move to northern Norway. Drawn to wild landscapes, colder climates, and a lifestyle closer to untouched nature, she decided to build a new chapter here.
Her passion for animals and the natural world has shaped much of her journey. It led her into the practice of herbalism and more recently to the world of dogs here at Kvaløya Husky. This is her first season working as a musher, a long-awaited dream finally coming true.
Capucine
Guide
When visiting Kvaløya Husky as a guest in February 2025, Capucine fell in love with the dogs! She decided to drop everything and move to Norway, here at the kennel, to start a new life surrounded by our lovely dogs and amazing staff. Now that she experienced driving the sled, she thinks about staying here forever.
